Hughbert Elmer
Sikkink
Jan 25, 1960 — Feb 6, 2025
Hinckley
Hughbert Elmer Sikkink, known to his friends and family as Hugh, passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 65. He was born on January 25, 1960, in Brainerd Minnesota, Hugh spent his childhood in Hinckley, where he played football and baseball and sang in the choir. He was actively involved in 4-H throughout his youth, developing a lifelong love for agriculture and community.
After graduating from Hinckley High School, he continued his education at Bemidji, earning a diploma in Bible Studies from Oak Hills Bible Institute. Hugh later returned to Hinckley back to the family farm, where he found joy in hard work and the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for gardening, farming, and riding his four-wheeler, but what he cherished most was spending time with his loved ones. Whether working the tractor or sharing laughs with his brother Robert, Hugh's presence was a source of warmth and kindness.
An avid collector of marbles and coins, Hugh had a keen appreciation for history and craftsmanship. He made a lasting impact in his community, always willing to lend a helping hand. His compassion extended into his work as a care attendant at a rehabilitation facility and with Phase, where he touched many lives. As the eldest of five siblings, Hugh took great pride in his family and the bonds they shared.
Hugh is survived by his beloved daughter, Keisha (Jesse) Lucking, and his cherished grandchildren, Karmin and Chase Lucking. He also leaves behind his father, Herbert Sikkink (Lucile); his siblings, Robert (Deanna) Sikkink, Albert (Elaina) Sikkink, and Donelda (David) Cox; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Sikkink; his baby brother; his significant other of 20 years, Barbie Krueger; and his grandparents and great-grandparents.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Hinckley, Minnesota. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service for those wishing to pay their respects. Casket bearers will include Robert Sikkink, Joseph Sikkink, Samuel Sikkink, Albert Sikkink, Kevin Sikkink, Chase Lucking, and Karmin Lucking.
Hugh's kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for family will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
