Helene Cathlene Smith, age 60, of Stillwater, MN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 19, 2026. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, and later graduated from New Richmond High School. Helene attended the University of Minnesota, where she studied Music, and continued her education in Paralegal Studies.

Throughout her life, Helene embraced many roles with passion and dedication. Although her passion was singing in a band, she worked as a paralegal, and later in life a senior claims analyst each path reflecting her creativity, intelligence, and unwavering work ethic.

Helene was preceded in death by her mother, Mary K. Smith; grandparents Calvin and Florence Harmon; and her aunt, Sally Larson.

She is survived by her sister, Jennifer Harmon (Tim Kooiman); her beloved nieces Kristina Kincaid (Jay Perrier), Allison (Mitchell) Berg, and Lauren Borgstrom (Dylan Valentini); great-nephews Dillon, Landon, Kayden, and Baker ("Squish" from Hudson Valley PTA); and her Uncle Bill and Vicki Harmon and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Brian's Bar & Grill (at 3rd level), 219 Main St S, Stillwater, MN, May 14, 2026, from 4–8 p.m.

Helene was a passionate, kind, and deeply caring person. She had a quick wit, a brilliant mind, and a gift for filling any room with laughter. She was always ready with a joke, a story, or a helping hand.

To me, Lene was unconditional love—my sister, my best friend, and my safe place. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories that will live on in all who knew her.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved sister, Helene Cathlene Smith. She was not only my sister, but my best friend and confidant. Growing up, we shared countless adventures, laughter, and memories that shaped who I am today.
