Harriet Louise Mattson, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at the age of 83, in Mora, Minnesota. Born on April 20, 1943, Harriet was born in Mora and grew up in Isle, MN, sharing countless memories with family and friends.

After marrying the love of her life, Duard A. Mattson, in 1962, the couple made their home in Joliet, Illinois, where they raised their cherished son, Michael. For over 20 years, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and love. In 1998, they returned to Minnesota to enjoy retirement, where their love for the outdoors led them to spend countless days hunting and fishing year-round.

Harriet became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1983, dedicating herself to caring for others. She was a devoted wife to Duard, who sadly passed before her, and a loving mother who took great pride in her home and family. Harriet was very active with St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mora, where she created lasting friendships and cherished memories.

In her spare time, you could always find Harriet enjoying the great outdoors, playing cards with friends, dancing to her favorite tunes, and baking delicious treats. She had a special fondness for a good piece of pie and a hot cup of coffee.

Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Duard, and her loving parents, Frances and Earl Motschenbacher.

She is survived by her son, Michael Mattson, and daughter-in-law, Bethany Bartel Mattson, of Milwaukee, WI; her grandchildren, Kayleigh of Chicago, IL, and Tessa of Milwaukee, WI; her brothers, Roger, Earl, and Terry Motschenbacher; her sister, Donna Cornnelius; and a host of nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
