Harold William Roeschlein died on August 11, 2023.  He was 95 years old.

Harold was born on April 7, 1928 in Milaca, Minnesota to Herbert and Margaret (Hofmann) Roeschlein. Harold was the youngest of nine children.

Growing up, Harold worked on his family's farm along with running the movie projector at the theater in Isle. He graduated from Isle High School in 1946, where he claimed he was not always a model student but had a lot of fun. The highlight of his schooling was being a part of the State Champion 6-man football team and meeting the love of his life, Connie.

After graduating, Harold worked at the High Path Dairy Farm as well as the Waldorf paper mill. In 1947, he got a job delivering milk at the Sween Brothers Dairy and would often reminisce on the clients he served including the Dayton family and a family with two little boys that he would help get ready for school. Later, Harold opened the Scenic Highway Garage with his brother Frank where they did mechanical work and sold Ford cars and trucks. Harold moved houses with Ernst Movers from 1960-1967 then began his career for the State of Minnesota Highway Department where he worked until he retired in 1990. While working his various jobs, Harold was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Sacred Heart Church, volunteered for the Wahkon Fire Department for 26 years and was on the Isle School Board for 33 years. Additionally, Harold was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed raising beef and dairy cattle as well as growing the famous Roeschlein Sweet Corn. You could often see sheep, pigs, chickens, horses, or cows in the pastures at the Roeschlein farm.

Harold and Connie married on August 27, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in Wahkon. Shortly after marrying, they began their family and raised their six children together. In his retirement years, Harold enjoyed traveling the United States with Connie, visiting 48 of the 50 states. He was also an avid hunter, gardener, and cardplayer. Harold was kept entertained by visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for 45 years. Harold and Connie were married 16 days short of 74 years.

Harold is survived by his wife Connie; daughters Cynthia, Michele (Mike), Kari (Steve); sons Jeff (Debbie), Todd (Amy); son-in-law Ron; grandchildren Robert, Janelle, Alicia, Danny, Darcee, Lindsey, Jordan, Brady, Ethan, Kaylee, Lily, Noah, Carter; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Cliff, Ray, Frank, John, and Walter; sisters Helen, Martha, and Lela; daughter Nancy; and grandson Brent.

Harold gifted us with his sense of humor, his strong work ethic, his storytelling, and the importance of family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wahkon with Fr. Jerry Schik, OSC officiating.  Visitation will be from 9 until 11 A.M. at the church.  Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wahkon.
