Harlan Leroy Lakings was born to Roy and Martha (Williamson) Lakings on May 4,1928 in Hurley South Dakota. He attended Hurley Schools and after high school farmed with his family until joining the Navy. He served before and during the Korean War and was honorably discharged after four years of service.

He met the love of his life, Rose Hansen, and the two were married on June 26, 1955. They had three children together. They farmed together in Hurley for a few years, then moved to Sioux Falls. In 1967 they purchased Rose's family farm in Mora, Minnesota. After working at Aurelius Manufacturing, Harlan returned to farming full time until his retirement in 1990.

After Rose's retirement, they moved to Longville, to their beloved "lake house" where they enjoyed fishing, hosting game nights with their neighbors and visits from their children and grandchildren.

Harlan passed away on January 19, 2022, at the age of 93. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne and Harrison, sister Janice, wife Rose, daughter Cindy and granddaughter Tina. He is survived by son Randy and wife Kay, daughter Laura and husband Greg, grandchildren Ryan, Justin and wife Kristina, Ross, Shane, Nick, Jake and Ginger and husband Josiah and great grandsons Cayden and Avery.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Karen Greimel officiating.  Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora with Military Honors by the Mora American Legion Post 201.
