Gilbert Rodney Peterson, age 84 of Isle, Minnesota passed away peacefully Saturday December 9th after battling Alzheimer's disease.

Rod was born September 19, 1939 in Buffalo, Minnesota to Jesse and Delvina Peterson.

Rod met his loving wife of 61 years Dorothy "Dodie" (Conat) at the age of 18. They were blessed with three children, Shawn (Davis), ShaRee Antenucci (James Rhoads), Barry Peterson (Kim) and five grandchildren, Jasmine Davis, Emilee (Dylan McGarthwaite), Jesse Davis, Piper, Isaac, and one great grandchild Lillie. Rod is also survived by his wife Dodie, brother Leroy and sister Jane (Gene Carlstrom), brother-in-law Paul Schlosser, aunts and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father and mother Jesse and Delvina, Brother Arlen (& Mildred), sister Marilyn (& Willard Sipe), sister Karen Schlosser, brother Robert & wife of brother Leroy (MaryAnn).

Rod was a 1957 graduate of Rockford High School. He worked as a Rockford Bakery truck driver, a Forman at Alpana Aluminum Company for 26 years until they closed, then was hired as a Supervisor at Cardinal Glass Company until he retired. He was very well liked by his workers.

Rod and Dodie then added to their cabin at Mille Lacs Lake and moved there. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, golfing and received trophies from some of the contests he entered. He also played baseball for Rockford & Buffalo.

He loved his kids and grandkids who adored him also.

Rod and Dodie enjoyed many years of going to Mexico with family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit family and enjoy the sunshine.

His nickname was "Hot Rod" which fit quite well according to Dodie.  He overcame alcoholism and enjoyed entertaining at the lake with family and friends which made retirement very fulfilling.

Rod's Celebration of Life will be held Friday December 15th at 10am Visitation, 11am Funeral, and Meal at noon at Isle Evangelical Free Church, 2100 Oak Street E, Isle, MN 56342.
