Geraldine "Gerry" Norma Vathne born March 3, 1931, in Kandiyohi, MN to Ernest and Josephine Fricke, the youngest of seven children, passed away on May 17, 2023, at Golden Horizons Assisted Living in Sandstone, MN. She was 92 years old.

Geraldine attended rural school, District #33 and William High School, graduating in 1948. In 1951 she graduated from Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. She married her husband Torger (Thor) Vathne in 1956.They made their home in the Prior Lake area for many years. In 1985 Geraldine and Thor decided to live a quieter life and moved to Finlayson, MN. Throughout her life Geraldine enjoyed being outside and being active, she loved to fish, hunt, garden, and do folk painting.

Geraldine is survived by her son Erik Vathne of Finlayson, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Torger, three sisters, and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held for Geraldine at 11 AM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Clara Edin, S.A.M., officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery following the service.
