George Wilber "Chi-mookomaan" Premo, of Hinckley, MN, passed away on October 21, 2023.  He was 72 years old.

Chimookomaan, George Wilbur Premo of Lake Lena MN was born in Cass Lake MN on March 7, 1951.

George grew up in Minneapolis where he lived and worked for many years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 2 years in Germany. He moved back to Lake Lena in 1993 where he worked various jobs for the Milacs Band and retired as the Language Immersion Grounds Director in September 2023. He enjoyed being part of the big drum cermonies, trying new restaurants, spending time with family & friends.

Preceded in death by: Father: William Premo Sr, Mother Rose (Clark) Premo, Sisters: Betty, Elizabeth and Regina, Son: Craig Ives.

Survived by: brothers: William Premo Jr., Steven Premo, Alan Premo. Sister: Maggie Premo. Wife of 32 years Leslie Monroe, sons/stepsons: Keith, Jason, Corey Ives, Bryan Sam, Daniel, Anthony, & Byron Deegan. Many grandchildren & extended family.

All his family and friends knew him as a funny and giving person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew & loved him.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 10:00AM at the Aazhoomog Community Center in Sandstone, Minnesota.  There will be a visitation starting at dusk on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
