George E. Jamison (89) son of Earl and Mildred (Grace) Jamison, of Sandstone, Minnesota, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife of over sixty years, Dorothy Ann (Fish) Jamison; children, Scott Jamison, Sara (Dan) Neumann, and Shaun (Kristin) Jamison; grandchildren, Terran (Katie) Neumann, Faith Neumann, Katrina Jamison, and Anika "Ani" Jamison; great grandchildren, Grace and Connor George Neumann. George is also survived by siblings, Coral (Charles) Rippberger, Karen (Pat) Galvin, Lynn (Joy) Jamison, Dwight Jamison, "Little" George (Kathy) Drummond, Harry (Sue) Drummond, and Kenn Drummond.

George served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and was stationed in Japan. He married Dorothy Ann Fish in 1960. He started working as a correctional officer at the FCI in Sandstone the same year. George loved hunting, fishing, canoeing, art, gardening, volleyball, competitive shooting, dominos, telling stories, and corny jokes. He was a member of the local wood carver's club, American Legion, Old School Arts Center and the Rod & Gun Club. He was active in the Sandstone United Church of Christ. After retirement, he was very active creating and displaying art. More recently he worked with woodcarving, but enjoyed many mediums from painting to poems to political cartoons.

George is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Earl, Jr. and Roland.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers preferred to United Church of Christ in Sandstone and Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center.

A memorial service will be held for George on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 4 p.m. at the Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center, 54165 Audubon Drive, Sandstone, MN 55072. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
