Fredric (Fred) Melvin Bonngard of Finlayson, MN passed away on October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.

Fred is survived by his wife, Beverly of over 63 years. His children, sons, Greg (Yvonne) and Steven; daughter, Julie (Marc) Fiorillo; six grandchildren, Nick (Kylie) Bonngard, Marrisa Bonngard, Taylor (Cody) Klein, Megan (Nate) Hobbs, Emma (Jimmy) Millette, Emily Fiorillo and fiancé Dylan Helland; four great grandchildren, Lucy Bonngard, Colter Millette, Ruthie Hobbs, Cameron Klein; brother Chuck (Stepanie) Downs; brother in law, Fred Kunz; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fred is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Eleanor and Grover Downs and his brother, Gilbert Bonngard.

Fred and Bev resided in White Bear Lake, MN for 37 years. After retiring from 3M they decided to move north to Finlayson where they have lived for the last 25 years, wintering in Yuma, AZ for 15 years.

Fred will be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with military honors on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 9am.
