Frederick “Fred” David Turbin, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, formerly of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by his family at Golden Horizons Assisted Living in Sandstone, MN. 

Born on July 12, 1950, in St. Paul, MN to Kenneth and Dorothy (Price) Turbin, Fred grew up in the Norton Park neighborhood of Duluth and graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School. He married his sweetheart, Julie Forsman, on July 24, 1971, in Proctor, MN. Together, they shared a loving partnership that lasted well over five decades. 

Fred dedicated much of his life to his work as a machine operator and later as an insurance agent. Yet, it was his passion for the outdoors that truly defined him. He loved nothing more than spending time hunting and fishing, soaking in the tranquility of nature. Fred's love for classic country and rock music provided the perfect soundtrack to his life as he shared stories and laughter with family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy, his brother Nick Turbin, and his daughter, Lana Turbin. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Julie; his sons, Erik Turbin and Lee Turbin of Pine County; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held for Fred on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm at the Methven Funeral Home chapel, located at 114 5th Street, Sandstone, MN. A private burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Rutledge, MN at a later date.
