Obituary

Frank Frederick Hartog III, better known as Fred, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2025. He bravely fought a 6-month battle with renal cell cancer.

He was born at home on February 27, 1940, in Orange City, Iowa to his parents Frank Jr. and Winifred Hartog. Because he was the 3rd generation named Frank, he quickly gained the nickname "little Freddie," and became Fred for his entire life. Fred and his family lived in Iowa until they moved to Worthington, MN in 1945 when he was just 5 years old. In 1947 at the age of 7 they moved to make their home at the farm in Ogilvie, Minnesota.

Fred met Yuanita (Ringler) and they married in August of 1965. They moved to Fridley, MN for a short time before purchasing their farm in Ogilvie. Fred and Yuanita grew their family when they had their only son, Dan. Fred taught him the love of the land and machinery. He took pride in his
own farm, raising dairy cattle, corn, beans and small grain became his livelihood until he retired in 2023.

Fred and Yuanita celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this summer. You would always find them together. If they weren't farming, they enjoyed camping, threshing shows, driving the countryside on their antique tractors or gator and spending time with family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Jr. and Winnifred Hartog, his mother and father in laws, Arnold and Clara Ringler, and his brother Merlin Hartog.

Fred is survived by his wife, Yuanita Hartog, his only son, Dan (Shari), granddaughters, Emily and Abby Hartog; his brother, Wilson Hartog, and many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran church, 2088 Hwy 70, Mora at 2:00PM on Saturday October 18, 2025 with a visitation from noon to 2pm.
