Francis "Frank" Eugene Schaaf, age 92, of Sandstone, MN passed away on November 26, 2021 at the Sandstone Health Care Center.

Frank was born April 13, 1929 in the town of Markville, MN to Charles and Sophie Schaaf. He attended school at Markville and Cloverton High School. Frank was a veteran of the 215 Air Force serving his country from 1950 to 1954, spending two years in England as a military police personnel. Following his discharge, Frank worked as a bricklayer in the Minneapolis area. On December 22, 1972 he married Mary Seifert and they lived in Hopkins, MN until they retired and moved to Markville, where Frank built a new home on the property he was born on.

Frank was an avid hunter and trout fisherman. He always had a big garden, enjoyed his flower gardens and and the many birds that frequented his yard. Frank loved telling stories of the "old days" in Markville. In 2015 he and Mary moved to Wild River apartments in Sandstone, where they resided until Frank's passing.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sophie Schaaf, four brothers, James, Edward, Charles, Robert; three half brothers, George, Fred, Jack; four sisters, Mena, Lillian, Louise, and Mary Lou.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Mary; his sister, Marie; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone, MN, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11 a.m., with Father Sirba officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place after lunch at Markville Cemetery.
