Obituary

Flora D. Thornton was welcomed home by her loving Savior on February 8, 2022, at Sandston Health Care Center in Sandstone.

Flora was born on July 14, 1935, in Bristow, Oklahoma to Earl Ward and Pearlie May (Walker) Ward.  When she was 8 years old her family moved to California and settled in West Pittsburg, California.  Flora was united in marriage to Floyd R. Thornton on February 9, 1951, in Pittsburg, California.  To this union was born three children, Charlotte, Karla, and Ronald.

Throughout her life Flora worked many jobs.  She worked at Thrifty Drug in Pittsburg, Ca., then moved to Sears in Antioch.  Her love for sewing lead her to later work at House of Fabric and Beverly's Fabric in Antioch.  After moving to Redbluff, Ca., she worked as secretary at North Valley Baptist Church.  When they moved from Redbluff they settled in Yuma, Az.  They lived in Yuma, Az until 2008, when because of health reasons they moved to Hinckley, MN to be near their daughter Charlotte.  In 2011, Floyd was moved to Sandstone Health Care Center.  In January 2016 Flora's health required her to enter the Health Care Center, where she shared a room with Floyd until his death.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Oliver, and Pearlie May Ward, two sisters, Norma Jean and Ella Lou, her husband Floyd of 69 years, son Ronald L Thornton and a grandson Kelly E. Lipscomb.

She is survived by her daughters Charlotte (Vic) Elfstrum of Hinckley, Karla (Ron) Campbell of Texas; Grandchildren Jennifer (Tony) Jabs of Kentucky, Jason (Amanda) Elfstrum of Hinckley, Kim (Scott) McFarland, Micheal (Camryn) Campbell, Marc (Amanda) Campbell, Ashley (Aaron) Martin all of Texas.  Great Grandchildren, Castle (Nick), Jesse (Vanessa), Faith, Riley, Aubree, Rayna, Randi, Logan, Hunter, Jacob and Addison, Great-great Granddaughter, Brynn.

A private service will be held at a later date.
