Everett E. Moss died peacefully on December 29, 2023 at his home in Wahkon, MN at the age of 92. Everett was born on April 30, 1931 at the hospital in Isle to Arthur and Laura (Church) Moss. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Isle on May 17, 1931.

He lived with his family on a 40-acre farm located west of the entrance building of Father Hennepin State Park.  When he was 10 years old in 1942 his family moved to an 80-acre dairy farm located across the road from the East Side Town Hall north of Isle.

He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran July 9, 1944. Everett graduated from Isle High School in 1949. He worked at the Isle Creamery and the family dairy farm.

He joined the USAF on August 26, 1950 and completed Basic Training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX in September 1950. He trained at Scott Field in Bellview, IL and MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. He was a radio technician and also did Search and Rescue in Wiesbaden, Germany, Sculthorpe, England and Prestwick, Scotland before finishing his time in the USAF at Camp Kilmore, NJ in 1954.

While stationed in England his bride-to-be, Shirley Jean, traveled from Isle, MN to meet him and they were married December 17, 1952 near Sculthorpe Air Base, at Fakenham, County of Norfolk, England. They had a small ceremony and began their married life. Everett owned a Triumph 125 and then a BSA 500 motorcycle and they toured Scotland and England. While working nights as a radio technician he was able to tune into WCCO 830 radio back home in MN on clear weather nights. In August 1954 they returned to the US and he was discharged.

He began a 35-year career at Unisys in 1954 in Roseville, MN. He started as a technician in the early computer era and later became a supervisor and retired as a resource manager. Shirley and Everett raised four children, Dale, Carol, Sandra and Gary in New Brighton, MN.

Everett and Shirley moved back to their hometown of Isle, MN and he built their retirement home on a 20-acre piece of property west of Isle that had belonged to Everett's Grandpa Fred Church and his Uncle Clint Church. There he enjoyed fishing, hunting, maple syruping, bee keeping, gardening, landscaping, photography, repairing cars, restoring tractors, and watching birds and wildlife. He enjoyed including the grandchildren in his activities.

His beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Jean, passed away in 2010. Everett married Evelyn Korpi August 6, 2011. She passed away April 2, 2023.

Everett was faith-filled, hardworking, patriotic, self-sacrificing, funny, quirky, and a wonderfully devoted Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. He made a lasting impression on many people and we will always remember his generosity and kindness.

He is preceded in death by his parents Art and Laura, his wife Shirley and second wife Evelyn, his sister Marcella and her husband Dean Adams, sister-in-law Ramona Moss, and his grandson Spencer Lee Moss. He is survived by his brother Gordon Moss, children Dale (Jean), Carol Rose, Sandra Gehl (Veryl), Gary (Carmen), grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 13, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Isle with Rev. Mark Maunula officiating.  Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. at the church.  Military honors are being provided by the Isle Honor Guard.  Memorials preferred to MLHS Homecare Hospice. A special thank you to his outstanding hospice team led by Drs. P. Hook and A. Virnig and special nurse Jenny.
