Elvina Fern Busse died peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at her home in Hinckley. She was 90 years old.
Elvina Fern (Blanchard)Busse was born July 19th, 1932, to George and Ethel (Cripps) Blanchard in Hubbard, MN. She was 11 of 15 children. She attended school in Hubbard and Hackensack. When Elvina was done with school, she moved to Hinckley with her sister Ethel. Elvina met her husband of 55 years, Frank, at Happys Dance Hall in Hinckley. Frank and Elvina were married on October 20, 1950, at St John's Lutheran Church in Kroschel MN. They raised their family of 5 in Frank's childhood home west of Hinckley. At the farm, Elvina had a huge garden every year she was very proud of. Every year she would can beans, carrots, tomatoes, and pickles for the family. The pickles were always a special treat for her grandkids.
Elvina's family was very important to her, and after her retirement as a cook from Maggie and Lloyd's Colonial Cafe in Sandstone, MN where she worked for over 20 years, she devoted even more time to her family. There was never a child, grandchild, great or great great grandchild that went without. Grandma always made sure we had the best birthdays and Christmas', which was her favorite holiday. She also loved playing games with the grandkids such as UNO and Yahtzee.
Shes preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, husband Frank, and son Gary.
She is survived by children Jackie (Darryl) Nemetz, Frank Jr (Mitzi) Busse, Joyce (Bud) Pickett, and Jean (Mark) Hickle, 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and close personal friend Lois Kruse. She will be missed by everyone!!!
