Effie A. Smith died on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Scandia House in Mora.  She was 100 years old.

Effie was born to Albert and Ella (Breakhus) Helgeson on April 4, 1921 in Bejou, Minnesota.  She was one of nine children, one sister and seven brothers.  She graduated high school and moved to Minneapolis and became a nurse at the Swedish Hospital.

She married Bert Smith on September 26, 1972 and they made their home in Warman, Minnesota.

Effie was raised Lutheran but attended Hillman Baptist Church until she decided to quit driving.  She loved making quilts the hard way, by hand stitching all the pieces together!  She was an excellent baker and cook and made many thousand dozen cookies for everybody to enjoy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bert Smith, her parents, Albert and Ella Helgeson, and four brothers.

Effie is survived by one sister, three brothers, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Michael Rue officiating.  Visitation will be from 2-3 P.M.  Burial will be at Grasston Union Cemetery.
