Edna Gale
Jacobson
Sep 8, 1947 — Jul 10, 2025
Hinckley
Edna Gale Irons Jacobson peacefully stepped into eternity on July 10, 2025.
Edna Gale Irons Jacobson was born September 8, 1947 to Shirley (Nutt) Irons and Edward (Ted) Irons in Hinckley Minnesota. She was appropriately named, as gale is defined as "a burst of sound, especially of laughter" and Edna's laughter was contagious and memorable!
She attended Irons country school in Clover Township and graduated from Hinckley High School in 1966. She later married and became a mother to her son, Sam Jones.
Edna was always a fabulous cook. One of her first jobs was at the Leaning Tower of Pizza in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In later years she cooked for residents at a nursing home on the Iron Range and even opened and ran the Kinney Cafe in Kinney, Minnesota. She loved to bake and would spend hours making fancy Christmas cookies and candy.
Edna was a crafter and gifted many people with her talents. New babies would get hand-made quilts, newlyweds would get embroidered tablecloths or pillowcases. She would make and paint ceramics, sew and alter clothing, knit socks and sweaters, and cross-stitch table runners. She recently took up oil painting.
She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and was lovingly referred to as the cat-lady of Clover Township. She fed and kept many stray cats and kittens warm through cold winters over the years.
Stopping at her house to visit you would find her watching old westerns, game shows from years past, or listening to country western music. There was probably a puzzle on her table, a mystery novel in her lap, and a cup of coffee ready for you. Edna played cards and board games and was known for being fiercely competitive; always wanting to be the scorekeeper and holding grudges against the few that were skilled enough to beat her.
Edna Jacobson was preceded in death by her son Sam Jones, parents Ted and Shirley Irons, five siblings, Lowell Irons, Lavone Stewart, Luverne Irons, Linda Olson, and Fern Unverzagt.
She is survived by her three brothers and sisters, Imogene Oldenkamp of Hinckley, MN, Virgil (Jeanne) Irons of Webb Lake, WI and Roger Irons of Bullhead City, AZ; a special sister-in-law Janice Irons of Mesa, AZ; stepson Larry Jacobson of Mora, MN, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving friends.
Services will be held at the Cloverdale Senior Center on August 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Clover Cemetery, Hinckley, Minnesota.
