Dwight Russell Nelson, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 16, 2023, at Moose Lake Village hospice in Moose Lake, Minnesota. He was surrounded by the love of his family as he succumbed to kidney failure and pneumonia.

Dwight was born on July 1, 1944, in a small private maternity home in Stanchfield, Minnesota. He spent his early years on his parents' beef farm in Braham, Minnesota, where he developed a deep appreciation for nature and hard work.

As a young man, Dwight found work as a machinist in Minneapolis and later as a fiberglass worker in Saint Paul. In 1973, he married the love of his life, Sandra Meissner, and they moved to the Bruno area, settling into a life as dairy farmers. Dwight dedicated himself to providing for his growing family and loved ones, working tirelessly until his retirement. In his later years, Dwight found joy in working part-time for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources at Banning State Park.

Dwight's family meant the world to him. He cherished his wife, Sandra, for over 50 years, and their love remained strong throughout their marriage. In addition to Sandra, he leaves behind his daughter Rebecca Earlene Nelson and his son Clinton Dwight Nelson. He was a proud grandfather to Hailey Rose Nelson, who brought immense joy to his life. Dwight had a special bond with his family, and their love and support were a constant source of strength.

Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Emmanuel Nelson, his mother, Ruth Marie (Ostrom) Nelson, his sisters, Betty Lou Haight and Sheila Rae Nelson, and his brother Wallace Leroy Nelson. He will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by his surviving family, including numerous relatives in the Cambridge, Minnesota area.

Dwight will forever be remembered as a devoted family man, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a kind-hearted soul. His presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.
