Duane "Dewey" Lindblad died on June 3, 2026 in Chisago City, Mn.  He was 87 years old.

On May 28, 1939, the second son of Chester and Luellla (Weathers) Lindblad was born at home in the farmhouse built by his great grandfather in the 1800's located in rural Frederic, Wisconsin. This son, Duane Norman Lindblad, grew up when farm life was shared by the family, and he and his brothers learned early the value of hard work and dependability. Neighbor helped neighbor, and the Lindblad family - owners of a big Case Steam Engine and grain separator - traveled farm to farm each autumn helping with the harvest. These memories would be lifelong.

By high school, Duane, known fondly as "Dewey", was working after school in the local grocery store and driving milk truck (picking up the farmers' large cans of milk) on the weekends. Since he enjoyed his time in the grocery store, following High School graduation, Dewey attended the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio. Graduating at the top of his class, his meat cutting career took root.

On June 3, 1961, Dewey married Karen Eileen Parker. Their love affair of 65 years took them to Milltown and Eau Claire, Wisconsin where he worked in the meat department/store manager. An unexpected invitation to manage a store in Isle, Minnesota, and later ownership - "Dewey's Grocery" - led to the community he lovingly called home. Here Dewey and Karen raised their precious children, Larry and Julie. Later, after selling the store, he trained managers for a convenience store chain in the Twin Cities. Returning to Isle in 1996, Dewey managed the meat department of Isle Super Valu (now Teals) until his retirement.

Retirement years were blessed with travel, primarily to Texas and Arkansas.

A man of many skills, he enjoyed special meat cuts, or even a pound of ground beef as a way to enjoy relationships with all he met in the store, no less a warm handshake as he passed you on the street. As much as he enjoyed these moments, nothing felt as good to him on a quiet afternoon or evening than finding himself in the saddle or training a horse. If the weather kept him inside, he may be found in his shop creating something out of wood (usually for his grandchildren or great grandchildren).  The beginning of 2025 saw the sale of the Isle home and a move to Chisago City, Minnesota to be nearer to their children.

Above all else was his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, next his family, then his love for you all who call the Isle community home.

On June 3, 2026, on the eve of their 65th wedding anniversary, he was welcomed into heaven by his parents, older brother, Paul, and Paul's wife, Ann; younger brother, Ronald, and Ron's wife, Avis; nephew, Keith Lindblad, and niece, Raquel Lindblad.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen, son Larry, (Marcia), daughter, Julie (Lindblad) Button (Donald); grandchildren, Kristen (Lindblad) Christensen (Jonathan) , Karl Lindblad (Emily), Samantha (Button) Zambrano (Kevin), Sarah (Button) Groen (Leonard), Shannon (Button) Larson (David); Great Grandchildren, Peter, Benjamin, Timothy, Andrew, Joseph, William, Abigail, Kira and Jedidiah.

A service of remembrance at the Isle Evangelical Free Church is planned for Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Mark Lee officiating.  Visitation will be from 1 until 2 P.M. at the church.  Burial will take place at Mission Cemetery in Trade Lake, WI at a later date.
