Obituary

Douglas "Doug" Loren Price passed away peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis surrounded by his family.  He was 71 years old.

Doug was born on June 12, 1953 in Mora, MN to Loren "Bud" Price and Delores Akkerman.  He graduated from Mora High School in 1971 and then graduated from St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Tool and Die Manufacturing.  On June 9, 1973 he was united in marriage to Joyce (Becker) Price in Mora, MN.  Throughout his life he has lived in Mora, Quamba and rural Brook Park and worked as a Toolmaker at DeZURIK, Onan Generator, Nord Phote and Amoco/EPC.

Doug loved the farm and country living.  He was an avid hunter, enjoying many trips to Montana and Colorado hunting for elk and mule deer.  Minnesota rifle season is a family tradition, enjoying many years of stories and opening day prime rib/pork loin dinners at the Oslin hunting shack.  He also liked to fish, taking trips to Canada, Lake of the Woods and Captain Hook's fishing launches.  He enjoyed the many winter morning drives with Adam Peterson checking to see what was happening in our rural community.   Cooking was another one of Doug's passions.  Many have enjoyed his dinners, snacks, homemade sauerkraut, venison jerky, shrimp cocktail, homemade ice cream and other delicious dishes.  Doug and Joyce enjoyed countless side-by-side trips with special friends.  Traveling to Colorado, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and their friends' cabins.  Doug's grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He was always eager to attend any of their events and was their biggest fan.  He loved his German Shepherd dogs ferociously as they gave him countless hours of enjoyment and loyalty.

Doug believed in serving our community by volunteering time and money for Grasston Lions, Snake River Chapter MDHA (life member), Mora Civic Center, MAYRA, Kanabec Conservation Club, NRA, NWTF.  These are just of the few organizations that he belonged to and held office.
