Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Mae Behringer, a beloved mother, grandmother, artist, musician, and dear friend. Dorothy, who embraced life fully and with great passion, left this world on March 20, 2025, at the age of 97.

Born in Adams, ND, on May 31, 1927, Dorothy journeyed through life with grace and creativity, living in various places including Sarles, ND; Long Beach, CA; and Spooner, WI, among others. She married the love of her life, Norbert C. Behringer, on March 30, 1955, and together they created a wonderful life filled with art and adventure.

Dorothy was an incredibly talented artist known for her vibrant oil paintings, often featuring beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Alongside her husband, she traveled to countless art shows, sharing her work with others and gaining recognition for her skills. She also enjoyed wood carving, crocheting intricate designs, and was an accomplished seamstress. Her artistic talents extended beyond the visual arts—she was a gifted musician, playing the piano, guitar, autoharp, harmonica, and dulcimer, and even spent time performing in a country western band at local nursing homes.

Her love for writing blossomed throughout her life. Dorothy self-published several poetry books and compiled a treasure trove of childhood stories into a three-inch thick notebook. Many of her reflections were featured in well-loved magazines such as "Reminisce," "Good Old Days," and "Ideals."

Dorothy cherished her family, especially her daughters, Deanna Anfinson (Jon Stanley) and Sandra (Ron) Nadeau, and her spirit will live on in her grandson Josh Anfinson, granddaughter Trisha (David) Jack, and her great-grandchildren Timmy, Emma, and Johnny Jack. She also leaves behind 25+ nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved, and a wide circle of friends and fellow artists.

To honor her life, visitation will take place at the Dresser Methven Funeral Home on March 26, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 PM with Chaplain Ben Ziegler officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Spooner, WI.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Norb, her parents, and all ten of her siblings. She was a shining light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her, always engaging with warmth and curiosity. She cherished every friend she made and will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched.
