It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Joseph Patterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born on May 8, 1939, in Denham, MN, Donald was the son of Orville and Agatha (Zabaski) Patterson. He spent his younger years in Rutledge, MN attending school in Willow River, MN before embarking on a journey that would take him to various places, including Grand Marais, St. Paul, and back to Rutledge until he moved to Hinckley, MN in recent years.

A proud veteran, Donald served his country in the army, stationed at Fort Bragg, South Carolina. On October 14, 1961, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Odenthal, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Donald worked as a welder on the pipeline and was a member of DAV in Cloquet, MN.

Donald had a passion for music, playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica. He cherished spending time with his family, including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His hobbies of swimming, playing pool, and camping brought him immense joy throughout his life.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy of Hinckley, MN; his daughter, Kim (Ed) Hill of St. Croix Falls, WI; his son, Gene (Karen) Patterson of Ham Lake, MN; sister-in-law, Jan Patterson; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
