Diane (Blondie)
Margaret (Glienke) Frederiksen
Nov 13, 1953 — Sep 30, 2025
Askov
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Diane Margaret (Glienke) Frederiksen. Diane passed away after a tragic accident on September 30, 2025. She lived a beautiful and impactful life, every day filled with laughter and love. She touched the lives of everyone who
knew her and she will be deeply missed.
Diane, also known as Mom, Grammy, Blondie and Sissi, was born November 13, 1953 in Mora, MN to Albert and Barbara (Ripka) Glienke. Diane grew up in Duxbury, MN with her parents and seven siblings. She graduated from Sandstone High School in 1971.
She met her future husband George Frederiksen in 1971 and after a short time living in Minneapolis, she knew he was the love of her life and they were together ever since. George and Diane were married at St. Luke's Catholic Church on March 19, 1977 and made their life long home in Askov, MN.
Diane retired from FCI Sandstone in 2006 after 30 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling to many places where she made lifelong friends. Blondie enjoyed biking, swimming, pickleball, walking, skiing, and softball. She loved shopping just to shop and garage sales, especially when there was a special find. Diane was also an active member in the Askov community. She loved her religion and parish, even through the difficult times.
Blondie deeply loved her family. She was very proud of raising her two sons, watching them play sports and growing into adulthood and having families of their own. The title she was most proud of was Grammy to her four grandchildren. At times we all joked about Grammy loving the
grandkids more than anyone else.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law (Arild and Faye Frederiksen), brother Denny Glienke, sister-in-law Marie Albright, and brother-in-law John Weicht.
Diane is survived by her husband, George, children and grandchildren Christian (Jessica - Aksel, Faye) and Robert (Synan - Marcella, Jaxson), siblings Duane, Donna (Tom), David, Darlene (Mike), Dougie (Beth), Debbie (Thane), sisters-in-law Susie and Sandy and many other family
friends around the world.
A funeral service will be held for Diane at 11am on Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone, MN, with Father Kristoffer McKusky officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday and Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Methven Funeral Home from 3pm to 5pm.
