Dewayne Edward
Huntington
Mar 29, 1939 — Oct 19, 2024
Hinckley
Dewayne Huntington passed away surrounded by his family on October 19th at his home in Hinckley, MN. He was 85 years old.
Dewayne was born in March of 1939 in Waseca, MN to parents lgnatious and Evelyn Huntington.
Dewayne is preceded in death by his parents lgnatious and Evelyn Huntington, both of his wives Sharon (passed in 1985) and Margaret (passed in 2019), Grandson Brandon Huntington, and his siblings Gordon, Douglas, Lonnie, Robert, Gerald, and LeVern.
Dewayne is survived by his son Wayne Huntington (Vicky), Grand-daughter Miriah (Kyle) Oetterer, Grand-Daughter-in law Kayla (Steve) Scheuers, Great-grandson Malik Huntington as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
DeWayne lived a full life, he enlisted in the Navy in 1956, he later became a welder in Minneapolis when he met his first wife Sharon Miller of Waseca, MN. After marriage they bought land in Hinckley where they ran a successful dairy farm for 20+ years, and had their only son Wayne. After Sharon's passing in '85, Dewayne continued to run the family farm with their son. Later, he remarried to Margaret or known by her close friends and family as Peggy in 1994. He and Peggy loved to dance and would be found dancing away on Thursday and Sunday evenings together. They shared in the hobby of bee farming which they eventually sold small batches of honey from their homestead. Beekeeping and farming became much more than just a hobby, and eventually led to the commercial business which is now widely known as Honey Hill Farms, Inc. Dewayne was incredibly proud of this business and its success. Wayne (son) and Brandon (grandson) also shared in this business adventure with Dewayne and Peggy. In DeWayne's later years he purchased land on a lake in Ely, MN to relax and spend his days with Peggy before her passing in 2019. Although Dewayne never retired, he has since enjoyed his last years on the farm with his family tinkering around and working with the business.
A memorial service for Dewayne is scheduled for October. 27th, 2024 at Tatting-Methven Funeral home in Hinckley, MN. Visitation is at 2pm and funeral service to follow at 3pm. The service will be officiated by family friend Mike Norton.
