Obituary

Dennis H. Udean, age 82 of Mora passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday June 26, 2021 after a 3 year battle with prostate cancer and complications thereof.

Dennis was born on August 17, 1938 to George and Mildred Udean in their home in Warmen, MN.  He grew up on the family farm in Warmen with this two brothers, Gerald and Kenneth, and

three sisters, Rosedell, Mavis and Judy.  They all learned how to work hard on the family farm by tending to the animals, plowing fields, and gardening.  He attended grade school in a small school house in Warmen and then graduated from Mora High School in 1956.

After graduation he purchased a milk route and began hauling can milk for Farmers Co-op which eventually became AMPI and driving a bulk milk truck until 1975. In 1956, six months after Dennis graduated high school he met Barbara Carda, they married in 1959 and began their life farming while raising their 5 children, Debra, Michael, Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Kristin at their farm just North of Mora. Dennis continued hauling milk up till 1975 all while farming with his wife, Barbara and the older children to eventually establish a large hog production business up until 1982.

After putting farming in the past, they moved to town and Dennis put his skills to work in several areas such as meat-cutting, construction, and a general "jack-of-all trades" who was a reliable hard worker.

In 1988 he joined his wife Barb in selling real estate and soon fully established Dala Realty with 3 offices and 10+ agents.  Together they worked very hard to build this company until 1994 when he and Barb divorced and had to eventually close Dala Realty but still continued selling real estate along side his daughter, Jennifer, until he retired in 2005.

When Dennis retired, he could finally have the time to do the things he really enjoyed like deer hunting, fishing, bird hunting with his sons, gardening, spending time with his kids, grand kids, and close friends.

He became a very active member in the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association with our local Snake River Chapter where he held the position of President for 2 years and served as a Board Member for several years and even received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.  He was very passionate about supporting this organization and its causes.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents George and Mildred Udean, his siblings Gerald Udean, Rosie Hopkins, Kenneth Udean and Mavis Smith.

Dennis is survived by his 5 children Debbie (Terry) Bachman of Mora, Mike (Cris) Udean of Nisswa, MN, Jeff Udean of Pequot Lakes, MN, Jennifer (Udean) Sprandel of Sturgeon Lake, MN and Kristin (Udean) Touray of Sandstone, MN and 5 Grandchildren Zach Udean, Cassandra Sprandel, Alicia Sprandel, Karamo Touray, and Jayla Roberts, 1 Great Granddaughter Jenna Udean and sister Judy Morgenweck.

Dennis will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, sister, relatives and close friends. Our family would also like to send out a special thank you to the wonderful ladies at St. Croix Hospice who took care of our dad.
