With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Deanna Szczech (Quimby) of Mora, Minnesota and Surprise, Arizona.

She passed away surrounded by family on April, 4, 2026 in Surprise, Arizona. She was 78 years old.

Family was the heart of Deanna's life. Deanna married John in 1981 and together they raised 1 child, and welcomed 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Deanna loved painting and gardening, and helped inspire that same love in others, especially her great grandson, Zion. She made every gathering feel like home, whether at the lake in Minnesota or the desert in Arizona. Deanna is known for her spirituality, and will be remembered for her love and faith in God, her kindness, sense of humor, love of animals, her gardening, and love of music.

Preceded in death by parents, Father, Melvin Quimby and Mother, Violet Quimby; at the rainbow bridge, (dogs) Tomboy, Toby, Bailey, Tafi, and Tootsie, and (cats) Mama, Fluffy, Buster, Bootsie, and her bird, Chelsea.

Survived by spouse, John; daughter, Eron; grandchildren, Miranda (dogs Irie and Shayo), Mikayla (cats Maynard and Chappie), Logan and wife Jana/stepson Yoshi, and great-grandson, Zion; Brother, Bruce Quimby (dog Dodger); and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 17 at 11am at Spring Brook Golf Course, Mora, Minnesota. Guests are invited to share memories and celebrate Deanna's life.

The family asks to consider an act of kindness in Deanna's memory, by encouraging friends to spend time with loved ones, share a meal, or help someone in need.
