Daisha Honsey "Bezhigo Benasiikwe" (first thunder woman), daughter of Melissa LaFave, mother to son Destin Villareal, granddaughter to George LaFave Sr, died on Thursday, June 22, 2023 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was 23 years old.

Daisha loved being a mom to her son and riding around and working on cars. She also loved her style of fashion and beauty. She had many great qualities and had many, many friends. She was known to be a real one, loyal and straightforward in a gentle kind of way. She loved being around her own personal family as well as her own little family with her fiancé, Frank and baby, Destin. No matter where or what she always made you smile. She enjoyed spending her time with her nephews Giorgio LaFave and Jace LaFave.

She is survived by her mother, Melissa LaFave; her father, Todd Honsey; her son, Destin Villareal; her fiancé, Frank Villareal; her grandfather George LaFave Sr.; her sister, Breanna Larsen; her brothers, Brandon Larsen, Tre Honsey and Carson Honsey.

Funeral services will begin at 10 A.M. on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Aazhoomog Community Center with Baabiitaw officiating.  The visitation will begin at dusk on Saturday, June 24, 2023 also at the center.  Burial will be at Stevens Lake Cemetery.
