Obituary

Curtis Edward Nelson, age 86, of Hinckley, MN entered into his heavenly home on June 27, 2025. His last 15 months were at Sandstone Health Care Center.

Curt was born on September 4, 1938 to Ed and Frances Nelson at their home in Clover Township. He attended the Clover country school through the 8th grade though his practical education took place at home as he worked on the family farm. His most valued education, however, which also began at home, was that of learning to trust and to live out his faith in Jesus Christ his Savior.  Clover Community Church was an integral part of his entire life.

In 1959 Curt joined the Army National Guard, and in 1962 purchased the Lappe farm on Highway 48 to begin his own farm. On April 5, 1963 he married Marlys Shute, and they were blessed with 8 children.

Curt served on various boards over the years including Clover township, North Pine Hospital District, Farm Bureau, Tri-Township Garbage Board, and Grindstone Lake Bible Camp.  He served Clover Community Church both as a board member and as an adult Sunday School leader.

Much of his life revolved around his faith, which was of utmost importance to him. He loved to visit with family, friends, and neighbors and he was always willing to help out when needed. His commitment to do what was right in God's eyes could be summarized with the words of the song "Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful!"

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Frances Nelson, and brothers Carl and Elwyn Nelson. He is survived by his siblings Millie (Dennis) Kick, Ginny (Byron) Leander, Howard (Diane) Nelson, Kathy Nelson, sister-in-law Gladys (Elwyn) Nelson, and his children Dan (Sandra), Arnie (Kippi), Gordon (Dalene), Ardis (Bob) Mann, Elwood (Brenda), Phillip (Laura), Karen (Scott) Daily, and Andy (Emily), as well as 41 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 29, 4-7 p.m. at Clover Community Church. A celebration of life will be Monday, June 30, 11:00 a.m. at Clover Community Church with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Clover Cemetery immediately after the service, and lunch will be served at the church.

In lieu of flowers or gifts the family ask that donations be made to the Grindstone Lake Bible Camp. Donations can be made online at https://www.grindstonelakebiblecamp.org/donate.html or mailed to Grindstone Lake Bible Camp, 13222 Grindstone Lake Road
