Clark attended the Willard Country School and later continued his education at Mora High School. However, he made the courageous decision to join the Army Air Corps towards the end of the Korean War, where he served his country with honor. During his time in the military, Clark obtained his GED and furthered his education at Pine City VoTech, where he developed a strong foundation in blueprint reading for welding.

On January 29, 1954, Clark entered into marriage with Virginia Harms. Their union was blessed with three children: Karen, Cheryl (Stan), and Martha (Steve). Clark was a devoted father, and grandfather, cherishing moments spent with his grandchildren: Ben, Nathan, Aaron, Uriah, Soloman, Ezra, along with great-grandchildren Isaiah, Gabrielle, Oliver, Violet, and Anya.

After working for an airline company in Minneapolis, Clark answered the call of his parents to return to Mora and take over the family farm. He dedicated himself to its success, expanding the property by purchasing his grandmother's adjacent farm. Clark was admired for his hard work, dedication, and meticulous record-keeping skills, evident in his well-maintained farm and equipment. In addition to his farming responsibilities, he often juggled a second job to support his family.
