Carole Marie Swanson (Halonie, Elliott) of Finlayson, MN passed away on December 3rd, 2025. She was 69 years old.

Carole was born to Victor (Curley) and Margaret (Marge Bilstein) Halonie on December 23,1955 in Frederic, Wisconsin, as a twin sister to Cheryl Bea. Carole graduated from Sandstone High School in 1974 and spent her early adult years married to Melvin Elliott Jr and living on the Elliott family farm with their daughter Jennifer in Markville, MN. Carole loved her in laws Melvin and Eleanor dearly.

Carole married Robert (Bob) Swanson of Denham, MN June 17, 1993, and they spent 32 wonderful years enjoying life, residing in Finlayson, MN. She and Bob along with her twin sister Cheryl and her husband Jim grew large gardens and canned vegetables. They loved building beautiful quilts and giving them to friends and family. Carole's hobbies took her outdoors to bike with her twin and grandson Curley, hiking and enjoying the North Shore with Bob, her favorite spot was the Fifth Falls in Two Harbors. Carole enjoyed baking new things, knitting winter socks and losing herself in a good book.

Carole is survived by her husband Robert Swanson, her daughter Jennifer Elliott (Wayne) her grandson Curley Elliott, brother Dale Halonie, sisters Glennis Halonie and Poppy Irwin (Don) and many nieces and nephews.

Carole is preceded in death by parents Victor and Margaret Halonie, twin sister Cheryl Halonie, sister Gail Sundberg, and brother Dave Halonie.

The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital and Miller Dwan for their excellent care of Carole, along with Hope Lodge in Minneapolis for giving the family a home away from home while Carole received treatment.

Funeral services for Carole will be held at 11am on January 17th, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 16875 Farm to Market Road, Sturgeon Lake (Birch Creek Township), MN, with Pastor Brad Putman officiating. Fellowship and lunch will follow the service. Honorary pallbearers are, Wayne Elliott, Curley Elliott, Bill Elliott, Todd Elliott, Don Irwin, Bruce Irwin.
