Obituary

Benjiman Paul Nordstrom, 15, of Mora, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 3rd, 2026. Benji was born at Cambridge Medical Center on May 21st, 2010. He was the cherished son to his mother Magan Thiel, his father Christopher Nordstrom, and stepfather Goldy Thiel.

Benji was a 9th grade student who attended Mora public schools. He had a heart that was as big as his smile. Even on his bad days, he always wore a smile. Benji had an ability to meet a stranger and instantly make a friend. He had a special spot in his heart for both young children and elderly alike. At every family function or large gathering, you could find Benji surrounded by children, whether he was pushing cousins on a swing or they were pretending to wrestle, they flocked to him. Benji also had a way of connecting with the elderly. He once volunteered at a local thrift shop and instantly developed a bond with one of the elderly workers there, eventually exchanging numbers and requesting to go visit her because she brought him baked goods.

Benji was very social and as a result, had many friends that he's made over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends gaming. He also loved many outdoor activities such as deer hunting, squirrel hunting and fishing. He had plans to fish with his big brother Austin. He loved wrestling and was inspired by his big brother Parker to take on JiuJitsu. He was a role model, protector and best friend to his little brother Brock. They often had sleepovers with their joint friends, pulling all nighters gaming and watching movies. Benji has been interested in all things military, since he was a small child. He looked up to his father Chris who served time in the Army National Guard. He most recently had planned to serve his country by joining the marine corps or Army when he graduated high school. Many of Benjis friends might remember him best for his side hustle that he ran at school. He quite often woke up early so that he could walk to Coborns and stock up on energy drinks and little Debbie snacks that he could sell once he got to school. Benji was loved by all who met him and will be missed dearly. He was the very definition of kindness and love.

Benji is preceded in death by his Grandma Denise Nordstrom, Uncle Oscar Biederman and Great Grandfather Richard Nelson.

Benji is survived by his (Mother) Magan Thiel, (Father) Christopher Nordstrom, (Step Father) Goldy Thiel, (Siblings) Austin Voss (Louisa), Parker Voss (Alexa), Brock Nordstrom, Ryce Thiel (Sierra), Bailey Thiel (Bailey), Araea Thiel, Isabella Thiel, (Grand Parents) Linda and Brad Wahlstrom, Paul Nordstrom, Darius and Terri Thiel.
