Barbara Jean
Nelson
May 12, 1945 — Jan 29, 2024
Henriette
Barbara Nelson, lovingly known as Barb, peacefully passed away on January 29, 2024, at Regions Hospital in St Paul, Minnesota. She was born on May 12, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota, and grew up in St. James, and graduated from Mankato High School in 1963.
Barb lived most of her life in Minnesota and in 1972 married Ted Nelson and they made Henriette their home. Ted passed away in 1993. In 2010 she found love again with Gene Hermanson and they shared that love until her passing. She was a dedicated homemaker, treasuring her role as a loving mother and grandmother above all else. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love brought warmth and joy to her family.
Throughout her life, Barb worked outside the home, holding various positions such as a CNA and PCA. However, she found true fulfillment in being a mom and grandma to her children and grandchildren. She cherished the happy moments spent together, making memories that will forever be cherished.
Barb had a creative side, finding immense pleasure in making ceramics and yarn creations. Her family was fortunate to receive her beautifully crafted crocheted slippers, which brought comfort and happiness to their lives.
Nature held a special place in Barb's heart, and she delighted in watching and feeding birds. The vibrant colors of hummingbirds and cardinals never failed to bring a smile to her face. She also had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her flower garden, ensuring it bloomed with beauty.
Barb had a zest for life and enjoyed embarking on travel adventures, whether in her beloved Ford 40 or on the back of a motorcycle. These journeys filled her with excitement and allowed her to create lasting memories.
Among her many collections, one held a special place in her heart – her Betty Boop collection. Barb's home was adorned with these beloved characters, reflecting her lively personality and sense of fun. She also cherished the time spent at the salon where she formed lasting friendships as a part of the "gossip squad."
Above all, Barb's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she relished watching them grow and thrive. Her legacy will live on through the unconditional love and wisdom she shared with them.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ethel (Knudson) Price, her brother, Gary Price, "Great Uncle Mike," her beloved husband, Ted Nelson, and her son, Allen Nelson, along with other cherished family members.
She leaves behind a loving family to carry on her memory, including her son Bryan (Joni) Nelson and their children; Katelyn Nelson, Jaci (Justin) Duda, and Elias Nelson, her daughter Dawn Nelson and her children; Damon Klose, Chris Palmer, Gary (Beth) Palmer, and Jon Palmer, her son Corey Reed and his children; Ashley (Cody) Auers, Sydney Reed, and Samantha Reed, and Allen's children Willy Taylor and Justin (Alicia) Taylor. She is also survived by her life partner, Gene Hermanson, her brother Bruce Price, many great-grandchildren, and many other dear loved ones.
Barb's warm smile, loving nature, and joyous spirit will be deeply missed but forever etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
