Arlene Marie Hatfield, a beloved member of the Isle community, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, at the remarkable age of 103. Born on September 17, 1920, on a farm near Dows, IA, she was the cherished daughter of Amelia and Floyd Myers.

At the tender age of five, Arlene's family relocated to Stratford, IA, where she spent her childhood years. With a thirst for knowledge and a determined spirit, Arlene pursued her education, attending college and achieving the illustrious accomplishment of earning her degree.

During World War II, Arlene selflessly served her country as a WAC, showcasing her unwavering dedication to her fellow Americans. Following the war, Arlene embarked on a fulfilling career as a teacher, sharing her passion for learning with students in both Iowa and Wisconsin before eventually settling in Minnesota.

Arlene's fondest childhood memory was the time spent in the pig pen with her father, embracing the simplicity and joy that family and farming brought into her life. She was a woman of strength and determination, exemplifying her motto, "Grab the bit and go!" through every endeavor she pursued.

Family was of the utmost importance to Arlene, and she cherished the moments shared during gatherings, particularly the ones hosted by her grandparents. Her love for literature, as well as her talent for embroidery and ceramics, brought her immense joy throughout her life.

Arlene will be fondly remembered by her loving son Vance Hatfield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever hold her memory dear in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Denzel Jeptha Hatfield, her parents Amelia and Floyd Myers, her sisters Deloris Newholm and Patricia "Patsy" Stewarts, her brothers Arnold and Delbert, and their respective spouses, as well as one niece and two nephews.

To honor and celebrate Arlene's remarkable life, visitation will be held on October 30, 2023, from 12:00 pm at the Holden Lutheran Church. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the Holden Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm with Minister Sue Lyback, SAM officiating. Arlene will be laid to rest in a tranquil burial ceremony later that day with military honors being provided by the Isle Honor Guard.

As we bid farewell to Arlene Marie Hatfield, let us emulate the light she brought into this world by living good lives filled with happiness. Arlene's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
