Arden Harold John Gruett, 94, passed away April 16, 2025 Elderwood in Hinckley, MN.

Arden  was born on February 21, 1931 in Hinckley, MN to Otto and Emma (Schlafle) Gruett. He graduated from Hinckley High School in 1949. After high school, he started working at the St. Paul Ford Plant on the production line. After completing trade school for tool making, he moved from the production line to a position as a tool maker. He worked for the Ford Plant for 36 years. After he retired from the Ford Plant, he moved back to his home place in Hinckley, MN where he farmed and subbed on the mail route.

Arden joined the Army in 1952 and server for 2 years. He served during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1954, achieving the rank of corporal. Arden married Lois Roscoe January 20, 1951 in Hinckley, MN. Records show they were married in Kroschel, MN; however, the furnace went out and the wedding was moved to Hinckley. They were happily married for 63 years. They lived in Bloomington, MN for 26 years and moved back to the Hinckley area in 1981.

Arden became a VFW member in 1955 and was a member until his death. In addition, he was a member of the Legion, beginning in 1983. At one time, he served as the Commander of both organizations and the treasurer of the Legion. He was a member of the Honor Guard. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, hunting, fishing, playing cards, gardening, and farming. He was an active member of his church. After his wife, Lois, struggled with health issues, he learned a number of new skills, too, such as cooking and canning.

Arden was preceded in death by his wife Lois; parents Otto and Emma Gruett; sisters Ethel (Ed) Bjerke, Ellen (Clarence) Wicklund, Mae (Duane) Pulkrabek, and Loretta (Arley) Kendall; brothers Leo (Dorothy), Arnie (Elvira), Glenn (Cindy), and Alvin (Merle); in-laws Hazel and Karl Roscoe, brother-in- law Harvey Roscoe (Dorothy); sister-in-law Jessie (Edwin) Darsow; nephews Kenneth Darsow and his two children Kevin and Krista; Scott Kendall; Greg Irons; Jeff Gruett, his daughter Christa and his son Jason; Alan Gruett; Leslie Bjerke; and niece Toni Gruett.

Arden is survived by his daughters Lynette (Matt) Dorfner of Blue Earth, MN, Joan (David) Bloemendaal-Gruett of Hinckley, MN, and Jean (Jeff) Lamusga of Sauk Centre; his brother Myron (Darlene) of Sycamore; his grandchildren Aaron (Megan) Dorfner, Sarah (Travis) Nolan, Janae Taylor, Jaclyn Hoke, Bethany (Marcel) Campos, Taylor (Holly) Bloemendaal, Jayme (Phil) Hansen, Micah (Sara) Dorfner, Nick Lamusga, and Gwen Lamusga; his great-grandchildren Gavin Dorfner, Reese Dorfner, Robbie Hoke, Daniel Hoke, Landon Taylor, Beckett Nolan, Carter Nolan, Charlestyn Nolan, Ayden Bloemendaal, Easton Nolan, Eli Bloemendaal, Lucianna Campos, Zeke Bloemendaal, Vera Hanson, Otis Hanson, Avery Dorfner, Evie Bloemendaal, Isla Campos, Leonardo Campos, Blaire Dorfner as well as many special nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hinckley with Pastor Walter Lehenbauer officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the church.  Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Croix Hospice North Branch, Hinckley VFW, or Hinckley Legion.
