Amie Lynn Santini (nee: Gechas) of Finlayson, was born September 12, 1969, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Marjorie and Joseph Gechas. She was set free from her earthly body on April 18, 2024. The eldest of six children, Amie grew up in the Rhinelander and Sugar Camp area, graduating from Three Lakes High School in 1988. She was a cheerleader and ran Track and Field during her high school years. Amie immediately joined the U.S. Navy after graduation and served 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Yellowstone-AD 41 as a Hull Technician. During the Persian Gulf War, she served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. She was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1992.

In October of 1993 Amie began her career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at FCI Allenwood, PA. She met and fell in love with a fellow officer, Jose Santini. On December 18, 1995, Amie and Jose welcomed their baby girl, Nicole Cecilia Santini. To quote Amie, "she's the best thing I ever did." December 27, 1996, Amie and Jose married. The family made 10 moves to 8 institutions all over the country within the BOP, each move being a steppingstone for advancement in one or both of their careers. Amie moved into the Unicor Industries department and worked her way up to Factory Manager. Eventually, they settled in Sandstone, MN where Nicole could finish school with the same class and be closer to Amie's Wisconsin home. Amie retired from FCI Sandstone, MN as a Lieutenant in 2018 with 25 years of service and 29 years of government service. During her career she earned many awards. Amie served on the Employees Club Board and enjoyed bowling on the FCI league. She was encouraging and helpful to many along their journey in the BOP. Amie was a member of the Sandstone Quarry Lions for several years and served as President for a term.

Outside of work Amie's focus was her family, most importantly, Nicole. Amie was so proud of Nicole's cheerleading and track and field accomplishments in high school. Amie's face always lit up when she talked about Nicole. To say that Nicole was her pride and joy is an understatement. Besides her beautiful daughter, Amie was "mom" to many of Nicole's friends. She loved all of "her kids."  Amie welcomed her son in-law, Harley Spencer with open arms and was happy to add him to her family. Amie's love for her siblings and parents was immense. She was a "daddy's girl" and learned to hunt and fish from him, hobbies she enjoyed for many years. Amie had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that she considered family. She enjoyed nothing more than gathering around a campfire with family; dancing, laughing and sharing stories. Amie was always up for adventure. She was thoughtful and often surprised people with a little gift, just because. She was a dog lover and treated all of her pets like her babies. Amie loved Halloween and you could count on her to have an epic jack o' lantern carving party, the bigger the pumpkin, the better. In fall and winter Amie never missed a Green Bay Packers game, she would good naturedly razz opposing fans whether in person or via phone call/text.

Amie is preceded in death by her parents Marjorie and Joseph Gechas; Maternal grandparents Clifford (Bud) and Cecilia (Zada) Smith; Paternal grandparents Anthony and Beverly Gechas; several maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.

Amie is survived by her daughter Nicole(Harley) Spencer of Maplewood, MN; Ex Husband Jose Santini of Orlando, FL; sister Doreen Bailey(Jesse Button) of Rhinelander, WI; brother Joseph(Michelle) Gechas of Rhinelander, WI; brother James Gechas of Rhinelander, WI; brother Andrew(Joanna) Gechas of Hinckley, MN; sister Trisha(Jason) Zunk of Rhinelander, WI; special cousin Tasha(Robert) Scullard of Sandstone, MN. Many nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and very dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Amie from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Sandstone Methven Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at the Newbold Memorial Cemetery with military honors on June 1, 2024 at 12 pm in Rhinelander, WI.
