**PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE FOR ALLAN'S MEMORIAL SERVICE**

Allan E. Sullivan, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Finlayson, MN. on October 31, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1951, in Monticello, NY to parents Allan A. and Catherine R. (Curley) Sullivan.

Allan is survived by longtime friend Patricia A. Latimer; mother of his children Nina L. McKenzie Sullivan; son Kyle A. Sullivan; daughter Kasey L. Sullivan Wilson; brother Lynn Sullivan; grandchildren, Owen White, Shannon Doherty, Bridget Doherty, Eleanor Doherty, Molly Doherty, Jillian Wilson, Mallory Wilson; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Catherine; daughter, Kelly J. Doherty; grandson, Samuel C. Doherty; sisters, Marilyn Catherine Sullivan and Evelyn Sullivan Culligan; and brother, Alford Sullivan.

Allan graduated from Monticello High School and lived in NY until joining the military in 1981, where he served from October 1981 to March 1989 as a Sargent before retiring. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2nd Awd), Commendation Medal, Drivers and Mechanic Badge with (W) Bar, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development, Lapel Button, Medals of Honor. Allan was also a member of the Monticello Fire Department, Monticello Exempt Fireman's Association, and a dispatcher for Sullivan County wide radio dispatchers. He lived in Alaska for 17 years where he graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and raised his children. Allan and Patty moved to Finlayson, MN in 2016, to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

Allan was a long-time firefighter, a songwriter and musician, and best friend, The Godfather or Coach Al, to those who knew him well. His kitchen table was always open to all, and he welcomed everyone with music, laughter, and cold beer. "Music is the reason our hearts have beats." His favorite saying will shine on.

A memorial service will be held to honor Allan at 4pm on Monday, November 24. 2025 at the Community Worship Center in Sandstone, MN. Military honors will be held outside the center after the service. Everyone is welcome to join the family at Woody's Bar in Sandstone after the service.
