Alice "Nettie" Janet Peterson (Abrahamsen), born December 18, 1930, died October 24, 2021, at age 90 years. Nettie was born in Askov, Minnesota to Danish immigrants Hans and Carrie Abrahamsen. She was raised on the rural Askov family farm, where they grew rutabagas amongst other things. She married Fred Peterson in 1952 and raised her family in Sandstone, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents, brothers Carl, Jens and Eldon; Sisters Magdeline, Lillian, Ina and Mildred and son-in-law Roger Richardson.

She is survived by her bother Hans (Phyllis) of Inver Grove Heights, her children Grayling of Sandstone, Carrie Richardson of Sandstone, Tina Nyrud of Willow River and Fred (Maureen) of North Branch, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great granddaughters.

She was very proud of her Danish heritage. She was a Danish Folk dancer and sang with the Sweet Adeline's.

Nettie worked in Sandstone most of her life, including Klein's department store, the Madison Inn Hotel, General Fabrication, Sandstone School District as a bus driver and her favorite job was as a cook at the Sandstone Hospital and Nursing Home. She had many hobbies; doing jigsaw puzzles, cross stitch, crotchet and macrame, sewing her kids clothes through the years as well as doll clothes, making doll houses, playing horseshoes, watching old movies, listening to old country music, gardening and canning. She loved to fish and clean fish but wouldn't eat fish. What she loved most was having her children home with her and drinking boiling hot Folger's coffee with a cookie. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held for Nettie on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Askov, MN, with Clara Edin, S.A.M. officiating. Visitation will take place Monday, November 1, 2021, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Methven Funeral Chapel in Sandstone, MN and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place after lunch at Spring Park Cemetery in Sandstone, MN.
