Johnsen, Albert (Al) Steven; born on February 5, 1952; son of Glenn and Delores (Bierwerth); brother to Linda, Sandey (Roger) Mathisen, Glenn, and Terry (Roxanne); former husband to Kathleen (Hannon); dad to Daniel (Jill), Steven (Delaney Wells), Andrea (Jonas) Woodrow; and the World's Best Grampa to Hayden and Matilda Johnsen, Beatrix and Mabel Woodrow.

Al was happiest at the lake and in his cabin, especially when surrounded by family and friends. He passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2026, in that same happy place while getting it ready for yet another season of warmth, adventure, laughter, and lake days (with the occasional mysterious treasure map to be discovered or fantastic puzzle to be solved). There, he gave his children and grandchildren the kind of special "Grampa memories" that will outlast any formal words printed here: vivid moments and joyful stories they will hold tightly, retell often, and pass on for generations.

In Al's own words: "…tried to be a good Marine, friend, neighbor, citizen. Party at Obb's Sports Bar in St. Paul at a later date - no tears because I had a great life! Memorials to Shriners Children's Twin Cities, if you must."

There will be a private ceremony at Fort Snelling and a Celebration of Life at Obb's Bar in St. Paul. Details will be made available when known.
