Alan Frye, age 76, passed away October 21, 2023, at the Moose Lake Hospital after spending three weeks struggling with Covid.

Alan, the first-born child of Vance and Gertrude Frye, grew up on the family farm east of Hinckley.  He attended Cloverdale Country School where his grandmother Ellen Frye was his first teacher.  Alan graduated from Hinckley High School in 1965.  After graduation, he worked several jobs in the Twin Cities, including Pearson Candy Company and Minnesota Mutual Insurance.

Alan served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968.  He served nine months in Vietnam as a motor pool mechanic/truck driver.  Upon returning home, he worked local jobs and then attended Pine City Vocational School and graduated from the auto mechanics program.  He operated his own gas station on Highway 61 in Hinckley.  His real interest was over-the-road trucking, and he spent many years driving for a variety of companies in Minnesota.  Alan was a proud Teamsters' Union member.  His last trucking job was for H & P Express out of Willow River where he was befriended by his boss, Pete Cavagnetto.  He also enjoyed working with Mike Harris, who became one of his best friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Gertrude Frye.  He is survived by his wife, Sandy, with whom he shared a home in Quartzsite, Arizona, his sons David and Cody and daughter Brigett and their families. He also leaves behind his brothers Vince, Justin and Ferlin, and sisters Sally, Sue, Julie, Melinda and Brenda.

Alan and Sandy were married in 1991 in Deadwood, South Dakota.  They spent many years enjoying horseback riding, traveling in their motorhome to various horse camps out West. Alan and Sandy loved their many dogs they had over the years.

Alan will be sorely missed by his wife, family and many friends.  A special thank you goes out to his friends Pete and Mike who were with him every day in the hospital.
