CHANGE IN DAY OF SERVICE
Thomas “Tom” Zortman passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 near Culbertson, Montana. He was 53 years old.
He was enroute to McGrath, MN when he suffered a heart attack. Tom was born on December 11, 1959 in Mora, MN. He attended McGrath and McGregor schools and entered the National Guard in 1977. He owned a home in McGrath, MN but has been working near Williston, ND for the past three years. Tom is known for his skilled carpentry work and has worked on many homes and businesses around Minnesota.
Tom has been an active member of Opstead Baptist Church in Isle, MN for several years. Many will remember him for his skill in carpentry and gardening, his love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and music. The past several years of his life are most marked by his deep devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and sharing his testimony of a life changed. He has been known as the “Preacher Man” to those who knew him and loved to share of his victory through the trials and sufferings in life. He is a beloved son, brother and father and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Arthur and Elsie Zortman, and Axel and Anna Simonson and step-grandmother Martha Simonson.
Tom is survived by his son T-Jay Zortman of Hutchinson, MN; daughters, Trinity and Theresa Zortman of Foreston, MN; his parents Richard and Mary Ann Zortman of McGrath, MN; his sisters Teri (Bryan) Ellison of Alton, IL; Richelle (Mike) Richert of Mora, MN, Mary (Darren) Gray of Dubuque, IA; his brothers Tim (Chris) Zortman of Garden City, MI, Todd Zortman of McGrath, MN, Rock (Tari) Zortman of Isanti, MN, Rustin (Jeni) Zortman of Cambridge, MN, and Ryan (Christina) Zortman of Oakdale, MN as well as many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Opstead Baptist Church with Rev. Perry Johnson officiating. Music is being provided by Mark and Cameo Skogen Family. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 5 until 8 P.M. at the church, as well as one hour prior to the service. Casketbearers are Timothy Zortman, T. Jay Zortman, Todd Zortman, Rusty Zortman, Rock Zortman and Ryan Zortman. Honorary Casketbearers are Teri (Bryan) Ellison, Chris Zortman, Richelle (Mike) Richert, Christina Zortman, Mary (Darren) Gray, Tari Zortman and Jeni Zortman. Burial will be at Opstead Baptist Cemetery. Military honors are being provided by the Isle Honor Guard.
