Gilford L. Hanson

Gilford Lee Hanson, age 97, formerly of Sandstone and Rush City, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at The Villlages of North Branch in North Branch, MN. He was born at Pine Lake in Isanti County, Minnesota on October 15, 1913 to Lee and Irma (Bergloft) Hanson. As a young man, he worked for a farmer, then at Land O’Lakes Drying Plant in Rush City. In late 1941, he was employed at Amber Milling in Rush City and worked there until he retired at age 65. He also had a small hobby farm. He married Eddalee Batterson in January 1942. They settled in Rush City and raised their two children. Eddalee passed away March 28, 1989. Later Gilford met Charlotte Delaney. They married July 11, 1991 and lived in Sandstone, Minnesota. They would have been married 20 years on July 11, 2011. During the last few years, they lived at The Villages of North Branch. Gil enjoyed gardening, fishing and dancing. He will be sadly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eddalee; his parents, Lee and Irma Hanson; four sisters and three brothers. Gil is survived by his wife, Charlotte of North Branch; his son, James Hanson of Saint Paul, MN; his daughter, Roxanne (Jack) Henry of Rush City; two step-daughters, Patsy (Tom) Cormier and Charlene Delaney; two step-sons, John (Mae) Delaney and Ed (Vicki) Delaney; a brother, Glenn Hanson of Washington; one grandchild, Vincent Hanson and family of Anoka; nine step-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rush City with Rev. John Beck officiating. Organist is Cindy Wendorf. Casketbearers are Neil Delaney, Johnny Delaney, Christopher Delaney, Mike Haaland, Noah Haaland and Mike Rote.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City, MN.
